An Evening at Le Basilic – the Delicate Joy of a Shared Moment

Some places are discovered almost by chance—those addresses you jot down for “someday,” and when you finally visit, they feel like a quiet revelation. Le Basilic, nestled in Chèvremont, is one of those. A restaurant on a human scale, with discreet charm, where you feel instantly at ease. We came with friends, hearts light, taste buds curious—and we left with the memory of a truly gentle evening.

A Prelude in Subtle Shades

It first started with enjoyable starters.

Dinner began with a graceful ballet of starters: scampi ravioli paired with a perfect egg, a duo of asparagus, and a sea-scented crème anglaise. A delicate, precise dish—almost whispered.

Next, foie gras marbled with smoked beef, balanced by a sweet gesis onion confit, served with toasted seed bread. A plate both generous and refined, bold and thoughtful.

Between Land and Sea

Monkfish arrived as a nori-wrapped mosaic, resting on an asparagus risotto, finished with a green asparagus cream that brought a tender breath of spring. Then came the Irish ribeye—thick, well-seared, and finished with a creamy black pepper sauce. A dish that matched the warm, easy rhythm of a good evening among friends.

A Sweet Finish

Dessert hesitated between tart and tender: an airy meringue with lemon and basil, as light as an April night. A reimagined tarte Tatin followed, wrapping the table in soft, nostalgic aromas of caramelized apple. Cheese comforted, and the Liège-style coffee with pékèt charmed. The evening faded in smiles.

What We Take Away

The cooking is honest, generous without being heavy, and clearly thought through. Flavors are well-balanced, ingredients respected. The wine—well chosen—played its part without stealing the show. And the décor wraps you in: warm wood, soft light, a few green touches—everything invites you to relax.

The only slight note off-key? The service, which, though polite and discreet, lacks a little warmth and attentiveness. These dishes deserve to be presented, shared with more ceremony. There’s a beautiful story in the plates—it deserves to be told.

Le Basilic: A Place to Remember

It was our first time—but certainly not the last. Because here, at Le Basilic, you find what you’re really looking for: a convivial table, food that means something, and an atmosphere where time gently pauses. If you’re in the area, do book a table. You won’t be disappointed.
