Week-end in Champagne and Burgundy

We just spent a great w-e in Champagne and Burgundy with friends and this allowed us to bring some nice Champagne bottles and our friends some good Chablis wine.

We started with buying some bottles in Saint Martin d’Ablois at Champagne Didier Ducos our usual supplier i.e. high quality at reasonable price when you go and bring it back yourself… I really recommend the place!

We followed that by a local lunch at l’auberge du Sourdon where you can find true local food in a nice spirit and a smile… book it in advance as it is usually full for lunch!

After this stop-over in Champagne, we kept going and stopped in Chablis for our friends to get some nice wine.

then a nice dinner in Ligny-Le-Chatel where we not only ate but also spent the night.

The food in Le Relais St Vincent is simple and local but fresh and tasty… price/quality ratio is no doubt a a good one! The service is familial and always with a smile. Nothing to complain about here and even the breakfast was a little buffet with danish on top… all we needed 🙂

On the other hand the bedrooms could be a bit refurbished… obviously they repainted the windows without removing the curtains 😉 and the shower gel/shampoo/soap they offer is not really nice, actually not to be used…

But all in all, for one or two nights in the village, no problem whatsoever and I would go back there. There is a nice parking and the village is fantastically quiet.

After the breakfast, we did drive nicely back to Belgium and stopped in Torgny to enjoy a top lunch in Belgium Torgny La Grappe d’Or and sure we will do this again soon…
