The UK Around Oxford The food you want to forget or not… Part 1

I assume you realized that we often go to Oxford as my older son studies there and so there are plenty of small places that we do explore each time we go there… let’s check a few of these.

No need to spend time on the B&B The UK Headington The Red Mullions Guest House as obviously it deserved a full post and it still does but prior to go there, we used to go to the Oxford Guest House on the same street. We have been there twice to install and visit my son… The place is clean, nice, people are really helpful and the breakfast is generous and tasty! I recommend that place as well and did book again even if we now mainly go to The Red Mullions… Downside is that you need a car or know the bus schedules if you want to go to Oxford City centre.

Ok, we can now talk about some food but I did already dedicated some specific posts on that topic:

But there are some other I wondered they were interesting enough to hit this blog but if I want to be more complete, I will add some comments then:

La Cucina: a great surprise I visited multiple times… great to be in an Italian restaurant with true Italians inside and doing Italian cuisine…. From antipasti to dessert all has been perfect! Not only fresh food quality but also service and flexibility to accommodate a table of six on short term. I 100% recommend the place, the 6 of us were delighted and the price was not a bad surprise at all!

The Crown: been there a couple of times… Always full but got table and glad I could! Generous portions, decent price, really tasty pub food and go for the Chicken Tika Massala!
Service is also really good and flexible, we love the place…

The Rose: how to nicely finish an afternoon… Positively impressed by their cream team and high tea! All fresh food, they also accommodated my specific requirements and the service was nice and friendly.
They also accepted to reserve a table for us while it was not part of their offering and after eight hours drive… It makes you feel good!
The improvement point would be the size of the tables but must admit it is a reasonable balance considering the surface available!
Will definitely go back!

Mamma Mia Pizzeria: Family dinner and i did let my son choose the place and he did really well (even if I needed some convincing!).
• Garlic bread
• Quattro formaggi pizza
• Carbonara pasta
• Ravioli
• Cheese cake
• Affogato
• Chocolate fudge cake
All was great and the service was really efficient and always with a smile!
Going to Oxford on regular basis, I’ll go back there, no doubt!!!
Ooops forgot to mention that all that for less than GBP 60.

This is indeed my second review of this place and i did bring my in laws with us this time.
It is still the same nice quality food with an efficient service and always a smile.
We did spend a nice time with pizze but unfortunately had no time for dessert :-(.

The Britannia Inn: It was a Sunday lunch in may and we were happy to see the variety of food available and also the quality of what we ate…
It is clean and they meet the standards of what we can expect for pub food.

Ask Italian: Made the decision to go there for really early dinner as we were tired and got a nice table immediately.
Service was fast and adequate for this type of place.
What amazed me is that if we were tired and not really hungry, we ate it all with a smile and at a reasonable price of 17.5£ per person! Including dessert!
