When my colleague mentioned Casa de Chá da Boa Nova in Porto, Portugal, as the ideal destination for celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, little did I know that it would turn out to be a dream come true. From the moment we arrived, this Michelin 2-stars restaurant exceeded all expectations, providing an experience that will forever be etched in our hearts.

Perched atop majestic rocks overlooking the vast ocean, the location alone was enough to take our breath away. The views were simply mesmerizing, and I couldn’t believe my luck when we managed to secure a table by the window. The innovative design, allowing the window to fold into the floor and transform into an instant terrace, added an extra touch of magic to the romantic ambiance.

The beauty of Casa de Chá da Boa Nova wasn’t confined to the exterior; the interior was equally stunning. The pictures we took couldn’t do justice to the sheer elegance and grace that adorned every corner of the restaurant.

But, of course, the main highlight of the day was the food. Casa de Cha da Boa Nova offers an array of culinary options, ranging from 6, 12, or 21-course menus to a la carte selections. For our special occasion, we opted for the 12-course menu, a perfect balance that allowed us to savor each dish without feeling overwhelmed.

The menu was nothing short of phenomenal, a symphony of flavors that ignited our senses and brought sparkle to our eyes. Each plate was a masterpiece, a true reflection of the chef’s artistry and passion for gastronomy. One of the highlights was the rare opportunity to indulge in a visit to the kitchen itself, surprisingly small yet impressively efficient, resembling the interior of a submarine.

Our culinary journey was complemented by a delightful 20-year-old Porto wine, the chef’s reserve, expertly paired with a refined goat cheese. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the restaurant surprised us with a small but decadent chocolate delicacy to mark our anniversary after visiting the kitchen.

To add to the surreal experience, we took a moment to step outside through the window-cum-terrace and capture a couple of photographs while relishing the fresh sea breeze. It was a brief interlude that perfectly complemented the unforgettable day.

As we returned to our hotel, filled with gratitude for the friend who recommended this hidden gem, we couldn’t help but appreciate the memories we had created at Casa de Chá da Boa Nova. It was more than just a restaurant; it was a place of celebration, love, and pure culinary delight. If you ever find yourself in Porto, don’t miss the opportunity to embark on this enchanting journey at Casa de Chá da Boa Nova. You’ll be thanking yourself for discovering this little slice of heaven on earth.
