I heard so many times about this place and everybody told me that it was a must to visit them! I must admit that now I made up my mind that I do not need to drink wine to really enjoy gastronomy, it is ok to drive 40+ miles to enjoy a great lunch or dinner.
I do not thus need to spend the night in the neighborhood to avoid driving. So all I needed was a good opportunity to go to Champagne (little Belgian village near the German border).
Thus my parents 60th anniversary of wedding was the perfect reason to have a fantastic lunch (4 hours) in La Menuiserie.
All has been perfect from pushing the door till the end of the experience.
The service from the chef’s wife was delicate and paying deep attention to dietary restrictions, discrete with sense of humor despite 8 months pregnancy! Thank you so much for all that… This is not a detail as she really was instrumental for us to really have a wonderful afternoon.
The food, will you ask me… A real delight, no exception all top notch and exquisite… We all loved everything and believe me it is no easy challenge. There is no surprise to see them with 1 Michelin star.
I am now in the list of people using word of mouth to increase their customers base as we have to be proud that in our region we can achieve such excellence in gastronomy and so by promoting local products!
All this for a reasonable price and in a great location! I can only recommend to visit that part of Belgium and not only when it snows… It is a great place to enjoy peaceful nature in a beautiful area…
