Comblain-au-Pont: A Culinary Delight at “Un Max de Goût”
Last night, I had the immense pleasure of returning to Un Max de Goût in Comblain-au-Pont. It had been far too long since my last visit, and when I took a look at the menu, I was instantly reminded of why I love this place so much. With dishes that align perfectly with my preferences, I knew I couldn’t miss this opportunity. A quick table booking later, I was all set for an unforgettable dining experience.
The evening unfolded with a spectacular menu that exemplified the artistry and precision of the kitchen. Here’s what graced our plates:
- Appetisers
- Beef Tartare: Paired with celery and crowned with Royal Belgian Caviar, this dish set a refined tone for the evening.
- Ondenval Trout: A harmonious balance of onions and the refreshing zing of yuzu elevated this local treasure.
- Scallops: Delightfully tender, complemented by turnips and the peppery kick of watercress.
- Duck: Served with cabbage and the aromatic touch of wild garlic, this dish was a revelation of flavors.
- Apples: The dessert was a masterpiece of candied pears, caramel, and subtle notes of sophistication.

As expected, the meal was exceptional. Each dish was straightforward yet elegant, showcasing superb flavor combinations and the highest quality ingredients. The service was flawless, as always, and the chef’s visible presence added a personal touch to the experience. The dessert, in particular, was outstanding—light on sugar yet rich in taste—a hallmark of this establishment, much like the culinary gem I wrote about at Le Coin des Saveurs.
Un Max de Goût has once again demonstrated its consistency in delivering top-tier quality, and it remains a privilege to indulge in their offerings. We are truly fortunate to have such an extraordinary restaurant in our vicinity.
To top off the evening, I was delighted that the chef graciously agreed to host another lunch for Move for Children (#M4C) on June 22nd, 2025. Thank you, Maxime, for your continued generosity and brilliance!

If you’re a lover of fine cuisine, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Un Max de Goût. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience.
Step into the culinary realm of Un Max de Goût, where every dish tells a story of passion, creativity, and exquisite flavors.

With the noble intention of supporting a worthy cause, I found myself drawn back to the welcoming embrace of Max’s restaurant. A reservation for two was made, not only to discuss potential collaborations but also to indulge in the culinary delights that awaited us.

The menu, a carefully curated symphony of ingredients and techniques, promised an unforgettable dining experience. From the delicate MACQUEREL paired with beets and umebashi to the opulent indulgence of Sturia Jasmine Caviar, each dish was a testament to Chef Max’s commitment to excellence.

As we savored the WHITE ASPARAGUS enveloped in browned butter and the succulent SCALLOPS adorned with carrots and spinach, it became evident that we were in the presence of culinary mastery.

The pièce de résistance arrived in the form of SUCKLING LAMB, accompanied by wild garlic, green asparagus, and morels. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, a symphony for the senses.

Despite our best intentions, we had to forego the ASSORTMENT OF CHEESES from the esteemed Cave du Fromager in Aywaille. Our stomachs, already sated from the gastronomic journey, could only accommodate so much. However, the promise of dessert lingered on the horizon, a beacon of sweet anticipation.
Throughout the evening, the service remained impeccable, each dish presented with precision and care. It was evident that every member of the team was dedicated to ensuring a memorable dining experience.
As the evening drew to a close, and the CREPE SOUFFLÉE infused with citrus fruits and caramel graced our table, we couldn’t help but reflect on the privilege of dining at Un Max de Goût. Not only had we enjoyed an exceptional meal, but we had also contributed, in our own small way, to a cause close to our hearts.

Move for Children is proud to endorse and invite its guests to experience the culinary delights of Un Max de Goût. For in the embrace of Chef Max’s kitchen, generosity, and gastronomy intertwine, creating moments of pure delight and meaningful impact.

We used to go that place when it was the previous owners and we liked it but we also thought it would be great to try the new chef and the overall service that I hope improved since he moved into his new walls.
We planned to have a nice dinner not too far away from home with friends and as we all wanted to go and try the place with the new chef…. Here you go a flavour of our experience.

Nice place even if you still can see in some places the damages caused by the flooding in July 2021. I personally love the view on the kitchen and also a large parking place next to the restaurant.

Beauty of the open kitchen is that it also allows a direct access to the chef and Max is a very nice person to talk to and at the end of the service, before curfew, we could have a casual chat!

As you can see, a nice experience and all this between 7:30PM and 11:00PM with a smile and a well improved service.
We enjoyed the experience and had a nice time with our friends during a flawless dinner.
We are blessed in our region to have such a choice of high quality restaurants!
Watch this place as i could feel the chef’s ambitions 😉
